Let’s Keep Kids Safe!

We would like to highlight two safety concerns for our children:

  1.  California state law requires all children under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or roller skates.  Our campus is a “wheels up” campus.  Please walk your bikes and scooters when on school grounds.
  2. For families that drive to school- please use the loop in front of our school for pick up and drop offs.

Holiday Fundraiser

There’s still time to place orders for cookie dough, holiday gifts, home goods, and tasty treats through our Believe Fundraiser.  Go to shopbelieve.com to browse the selection.  Let’s hit our fundraising goal of $10,000 to support our school!

A Message from PTA:

The PTA Fall Carnival is on Saturday, October 27, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  We have many parent volunteer spots available to help during the carnival!  Please click on the Signup Genius below to volunteer for the day of the carnival.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f044faea92aa6ff2-parents

We understand what a busy time of the year it is for everyone so we have streamlined the Carnival and have made it easier than ever to help!  This year, games will not be assigned to a classroom/grade.  We have all the games, materials, signs, and instruction sheets.  Volunteers can choose to do the following:

  • Set up games before the carnival
  • Clean up games/booths after the carnival
  • Work a booth during the carnival hours; taking tickets, setting up the game after each player, and handing out prize tickets.  Instructions will be provided the day of the carnival.

We are also accepting donations of the following items:

Books/DVD Booth- Please donate gently used books and DVDs for all ages.  Please drop off in the labeled bin in the office no later than Wednesday, October 24th

Prize Booth- Please donate new items with a value of $1-$25 for our Prize Booth.  Please drop off in the labeled bin in the office no later than Wednesday, October 24th.

Treat Walk- Please provide treats on small plates or in baggies for our Treat Walk!  Items should be “store bought” only.  Please, NO NUTS!  Due to space constraints, please drop all donations off in the office on Friday, October 26th

Thank you!

Odyssey of the Mind Information Night

When: Information Meeting on Tuesday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Where: Montevideo MPR

Who: Parents AND Kids Grades 1 – 5 are welcome

Odyssey of the mind is a parent-led program that teaches students to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. Problem solving in creative and unique ways like writing and acting in skits, building props, designing costumes, designing and building vehicles and presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.  They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level.  For more information about the program, you can visit www.odysseyofthemind.com and attend this informative evening led by Janis Dewar, the regional coordinator.

It’s Box Top Time!!!

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school.  Did you know that each Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school?  All you have to do is clip them, attach them to the collection sheet, and send them back to school.  Last school year we earned $1,472.10 for our school from Box Tops which was used to purchase playground and PE equipment.  This school year our goal is to earn even more!

Our first collection deadline will be October 19th.  The classroom with the most Box Tops collected will earn an EXTRA RECESS and popsicle treat!!  Look for collection sheets to come home with your child next week or print one up here.
